September 11, 2013 EMQG Meeting Notes
Nelda was the meeting presenter.
Reminder: Please put at least $1 in the basket for OSR.
The September swap was a pillowcase.
The October swap is Monster Mash.
Kelly asked that we postpone the issue of joining, or not, the Modern Quilt Guild to a later meeting.
Shawna at Jean Marie’s Fabrics provided fabric for a drawing to celebrate International Sewing Month. Tracy was the winner. She won a stack of 30 fat quarters of Amy Butler’s “Dots.”
Bonnie Hunter is giving a lecture and truck show this month for EVQ on September 19 at the Masonic Lodge. Social at 6:30pm and program at 7:00pm.
Kathleen is doing well following her surgery.
Kim mentioned that Benton County has a quilt exhibition this month. A traveling exhibit will be on display at the Benton County Historical Museum.
We had a little excitement when a tow truck showed up at the bank lot where many of us were parked. Don came to our rescue by going out and talking to the tow truck driver. There seems to be a glitch with parking in the bank lot, so we took a quick break and moved our cars. Make sure you talk to someone at OSR before parking in the bank lot.
September is Jenny’s bee month.
Show and Tell
Kelly shared a quilt that she made at the PNW MQG Meet up. She also shared a bag that she received in a swap. She attended their monthly meeting, a sew day and other events. Talk to Kelly if you want more information. She came away with some good ideas for future events for our group.
Karen shared a baby quilt she made for her new granddaughter.
Shawna shared a block she made using the Rock Candy pattern from Little Jaybird Quilts, and the Sidekick ruler from Jaybird Quilts.
Tracy demonstrated fusible products, and brought some samples to pass around. We put her information to practical use making name tags to wear to our meetings. Kelly brought in her bag of scraps for the name tags.
