Swap

The October swap was monster mash.

The November swap is a potholder.

Discussion

The McNail Riley House is now available on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, so we voted to move our monthly meetings to that location beginning in November.

The McNail Riley House is located on the corner of 13th & Jefferson. There are a few parking spots designated for the McNail Riley House. Please save those for loading/unloading only, and for people that have mobility issues. There is plenty of free parking in the fairgrounds lot across the street.

We have some important issues to discuss at our November and December meetings. Please try to attend.

Upcoming discussion items:

1.   Decide on what positions we need for the next year, and who will fill them (such as president, or presenter, VP, secretary, treasurer).

2.   Decide if we should join the Modern Quilt Guild.

Kelly brought up some topics to think about for our next meeting. She would like us to make some long-term goals. On her list would be:

1.   Having an annual speaker. Sometimes they’re booked 2 years out, which would give us time to raise money. Perhaps we could join with another guild to share the expense, or tie-in with the university.

2.   An annual retreat.

3.   A library to share books.

4.   Increase membership.

5.   Have an annual show.

Please think about long-term goals, and bring your ideas to our next meeting for discussion.

Parking

We may once again park in he US Bank parking lot, but you must get a parking permit from OSR. They have a limited amount of parking permits, so you have to check it out, and then return it at the end of the day. If you don’t get a parking permit, you’re likely to be towed.  Keep this in mind on Sew Days!

Bee

October is Diane’s bee month.

The Bee runs from January through December. You’ll need to sign up this December for the 2014 bee. If you haven’t participated in a bee before, you should give it a try. It’s a great learning experience.

Demo

Kelly demonstrated the UrbanChicken block. The PMQG used this pattern during their meet-up charity sewing event.

Kelly is using this pattern to make a donation quilt. The link to the pattern is posted above & in our previous blog post. If you’d like to donate a block, please use blue, turquoise, green, and orange for the 3 ½” squares, and Kona white for the white. Please bring your blocks to the December meeting.
